The Importance of Screening and Proper Assessment in Physiotherapy

When you are suffering from pain or a physical condition, one of the most important things for effective treatment is to have a correct diagnosis. In physiotherapy, correct diagnosis begins with a detailed screening and assessment, a process that allows us to identify your health problems and determine the most appropriate solutions for you, together with the specialist doctor.

What does proper screening mean?

Screening is a method of assessing whether you have certain conditions or health risks, even if you have no obvious symptoms. A well-done screening involves using tests with high sensitivity and specificity . Sensitivity refers to the test’s ability to detect the presence of a condition when it is present, and specificity indicates how well a test can confirm that there are no problems when everything is fine. Together, these tests give us a clear and accurate picture of your health status.

Why is detailed assessment essential?

After the screening, we perform a detailed assessment, where we test muscle strength, range of motion , and other body functions. To obtain accurate results, we use modern equipment such as Meloq dynamometers and goniometers , which help us measure exactly how well your muscles and joints are functioning.

This correct assessment is essential to identify specific problems and personalize treatment according to your needs . Without a detailed assessment, the treatments applied may not be sufficient or, in some cases, even ineffective.

How do we ensure that the assessment is as accurate as possible?

Recently, I organized an intensive course on the importance of screening and detailed assessment, where I worked with 14 fellow physiotherapists and doctors. During the course, we used advanced clinical methods and modern equipment to test and assess patients as accurately as possible. We also simulated real cases and formed working teams to find the best solutions for each patient.

What does this mean for you, the patient?

When you come to physiotherapy, it is important to know that we do not treat you based solely on your symptoms . We perform a thorough assessment, use specific tests, and rely on scientifically validated methods to ensure that we receive the correct information about your health condition.

With the help of these detailed assessments, we are able to provide personalized , more effective and safer treatment , so that you can recover faster and avoid long-term problems.

So, proper screening and evaluation are the first and most important steps on your road to recovery . In the hands of a well-trained and equipped specialist, you can be confident that you are receiving the best and most appropriate care for you.

If you have any questions or want to learn more about the evaluation process, we look forward to hearing from you and taking the first step towards a complete recovery!
